Shelly Dodge has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry.  She started her investment career in 1986 and in 1990 she moved her focus to the Trust and Estate Planning area of Bank of America, when it was commonly known as NationsBank, where she gained extensive experience helping to manage high net-worth clients. With the variety of assets held in trust accounts—not only stocks and bonds, but also Real Estate, oil and gas and other forms of investment vehicles—Shelly was able to broaden her knowledge in all the areas of asset management.  In 1995 she moved to Merrill Lynch and continued working with Trust and Estate clientele.  In 2000 she moved to Southwest Bank in Fort Worth and worked in their Trust Department, as well as headed up their Investment area.  It was at Southwest Bank where she deepened her knowledge of the world of investments and learned what it meant to really put the customer first.

With the need to provide independent, objective, financial advice to her clients, Shelly founded Visionary Financial Group.  While still in the process opening her new firm, she continued her relationship with NEXT Financial Group Inc. due to the excellent customer service they provide their representatives.

It is Shelly’s vision to help you understand your financial options and stay on track, even during difficult times.  This commitment is a long-term commitment to stay with you in the years to come.  She is dedicated to helping her clients achieve their vision for their financial future, and she continues to further her education to support her clients’ needs. In fact, Shelly recently received her designation as a Certified Wealth Strategist®  from Cannon Financial Institute.

Shelly sits on the Board Of Directors of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce, the Cross Timbers Rotary Club as well as Journey To Dream.  In 2013 she received the Business Rookie of the Year and in 2015 she received the President’s Award both from the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce.  She also has been named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.  Most recently in 2017, Shelly was named the Best Financial Advisor of Denton County by the voters of the Best of Denton County magazine.

Shelly graduated from the University of Texas in Dallas, where she earned her Bachelor of Economics and Finance Degree.   She has her Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses as well as her insurance licenses.

Shelly is proud to be active in her community and is very involved with her church.   She intermittently travels throughout the year to volunteer at a Guatemalan orphanage.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and their four children.  She loves to travel, and has visited over 28 states and 15 countries.

Kathy joined our team in October of 2012. She has a background in sales and marketing as well as nine years as the Executive Director of Membership Services for the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce. Kathy has also worked as a Life and Health Specialist and Customer Service Rep for State Farm Insurance in the Flower Mound area, concentrating on Long Term Care and Life as well as Property and Casualty insurance.

Kathy’s primary responsibilities include managing the office, handling customer inquiries and problem resolution, and assisting in marketing.  She will also be assessing the needs of clients for long term care, life, and disability insurance.  Kathy’s strengths include superior customer service and her attention to detail.  She has well-developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills and has shown consistent leadership skills in past situations.  Kathy maintains her Life & Health and P&C licenses.

Kathy is married and has four children and seven grandchildren.  She has been very involved in the community having been active in Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, youth programs and choirs from the community and her church, participating in mission trips, serving as various officers in PTA and School Booster Club programs as well as having served on different non-profit Boards of Directors.

 

Joné Herselman
Administrative Assistant / Intern

Joné joined our team in April of 2017. She comes to Visionary Financial Group from Flower Mound High School as part of the Practicum In Marketing Co-Op Program.  She is an honor student and involved in many school organizations.  She is the President of DECA and a member of English Honor Society, National Honor Society and Science Honor Society.

Joné has many responsibilities but her primary responsibilities include handling our social media, marketing and event management as well as assisting our clients with any needs they may have.  Her biggest strengths are her research and organizational skills.  She also believes in providing excellent customer service.  Her personal philosophy of “people helping people” fits in well with the Visionary team.
