What a treat to serve turkey and all of the “fixins” at the Lewisville Community Senior Center’s Thanksgiving Feast.
Again this year, Shelly served as the Chair for the Journey To Dream “Dream Big” Gala. It was a huge success raising over $150,000 for at-risk teens in our local community. Funds will be used to build Denton County’s first teen homeless shelter. Kyle’s Place will be a vision of hope and a safe place for the homeless teens which will be a reality in the near future. With the support of our community, Kyle’s Place is set to open in 2016. Shelly is also on the Board for Journey To Dream.
From the Journey to Dream Website: Journey to Dream was born in 2004, founded on a single devotion: to support at-risk teens – those silently struggling with the isolation and chaos addiction and abuse so often bring. Since its inception, the organization has positively impacted more than 85,000 students through school assemblies, support groups, and community events – all aimed at empowering young people with the tools necessary to overcome adversity. Over the course of our work with youth, we discovered the hidden epidemic of youth homelessness, setting into motion our current and most challenging endeavor: Kyle’s Place.
Visionary Financial Group once again sponsored the party favor at this year’s Fiesta Flower Mound “Midnight at the Mansion” which is hosted by the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce. Everyone went home with a sweet treat! It was a great community event and a wonderful evening!
Once again, Visionary Financial Group proudly sponsored the Communities In Schools of North Texas Golf Tournament. Funds that were raised go to support those in North Texas public schools and it provides programs to help kids in many ways and is mainly focused on keeping kids in school so that they graduate. Shelly serves on the Board at CISNT.
Volunteering at the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce golf tournament allowed for a fabulous day of networking and fun for all.
The Cross Timbers Rotary hosted a foreign exchange student it’s very first year as a charter. Tom and Kelly Heslep provided the host home for Karolina, who is from Slovakia. Karolina is here for the 2015-2016 school year and attends Flower Mound High School. Shelly is happy to serve as her Counselor. Karolina fits in beautifully on her trip to America and has a full year planned ahead. She will have the opportunity to experience many things that America has to offer.
